Troubleshooting

Tasks:

What password do I use for initial login? - Small Business users: User ID: admin ; no password is required for initial login until one is established by the administrator. Ent.erprise users: The default admin password is "teamleader"

General Errors - Anytime an unrecognized error occurs involving the Access database, ask the Administrator to Repair and Compact the database. This will solve many problems.

Message ‘....\team.mdb isn't a valid path’ appears – Try selecting the database again. The network server may not be available or the database may have moved.

Unable to MODIFY a field on a task - In order to modify a field, the task must be open and you must own it. This ensures that two people aren’t changing the same task at the same time.

Unable to Modify an OLE object - In order to modify an OLE object, the administrator must have set the ‘Allow Attachments to be Edited/Deleted’ option on the System menu. This may also result from low system memory.

The system is very slow when attaching OLE objects or files - Ask your administrator to increase the option labeled ‘Memory allocated to attach Copies’.

Install Problem "License Code Corrupted" – If you encounter this error run the following program that should be included with the TeamLeader folder. VBUSC.exe this program will reinstall the ActiveX licenses. You will then need to reinstall TeamLeader.

System_Preferences:

Unable to Delete a user - The user may own tasks. It is necessary to forward all tasks owned by that user prior to deleting the user. Because this includes tasks that are in history and therefore can't be forwarded without reopening, this may prove impractical. It is suggested instead that you modify the User ID to reflect a new user if applicable, or simply leave the User ID as is.

Database is inaccessible - It is likely that your database is corrupt. This can occur when a PC freezes during a TeamLeader session. The database can be repaired by running the ‘Compact/Repair Database’ menu item in the System_Preferences program.

System is becoming increasingly slow - It may help to compact the database. This can be accomplished by selecting the ‘Compact/Repair Database’ menu item on the System_Preferences program.

TLWeb:

Most TLWeb errors are due to one of the following reasons:

1. The OCX's are not installed, or have not been registered

2. The INI file is configured incorrectly

3. IIS does not have adequate permissions to the folders or database

IIS Permissions Error

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers (0x80004005)

[Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access Driver] Cannot update. Database or object is read-only.

The security account used by the web server IIS service should have at least "Write" permissions on the database file (Note: You cannot set the permissions from within IIS, see below).

To adjust the file permissions, you need to locate the file "team.mdb" by using "My computer". Right click on the file, click on "Properties". Next, click on "Security". There are several user/system accounts listed, you'll need to modify the permissions for the account that the IIS web service uses.

IIS CONSOLE:

You cannot use the IIS console to change the file permissions, the Access settings in the IIS console are not the same as "File Permissions". The settings in IIS only control what web browsers/internet users have access to (not file security).

HOSTED SITES:

If your website is hosted, you will need to contact your web host/ISP. They will be able to adjust the permissions for you.

MISSING SECURITY TAB?

If your hard drive is formatted NTFS, you can set permissions on files and folders by right-clicking on the file. If your XP workstation is a standalone or part of a workgroup, the security tab may be hidden. To unhide, open Windows Explorer. Choose Folder Options from the Tools menu. On the View tab, scroll to the bottom of the Advanced Settings. Clear the check box next to "Use Simple File Sharing." Click OK to apply the change.
